Filing for Divorce in Carroll County

At least one spouse must have lived in Virginia for six months before filing. File your Complaint, VS-4 Statistical Form, and Domestic Case Coversheet at the Hillsville courthouse. The filing fee is $60.

Virginia Code § 20-91 recognizes both no-fault and fault divorce. No-fault requires one year of separation. With a signed settlement agreement and no minor children, that period shortens to six months. Fault grounds include adultery, cruelty, desertion, and felony imprisonment.
